The programme is organised by the City of Tallinn in cooperation with ContractOK.ee and aims to make legal consultations accessible to every resident[1].
Why is the programme being held?
Experience from previous years shows that many residents face legal issues that require at least an initial consultation with a lawyer.
However, not everyone can afford to pay for private legal services. That is why the city supports regular drop-in sessions where lawyers provide consultations free of charge.
Consultation topics
Free legal consultations cover the most relevant areas:
- family law — divorce, child support, child custody, marital property agreements;
- inheritance matters — drafting wills, distribution of estate;
- contractual relations — residential lease matters, concluding transactions, formalising debt obligations;
- employment law — termination of employment, non-payment of wages, holiday/leave disputes;
- taxes and tax obligations;
- consumer protection;
- enforcement proceedings and court judgments;
- apartment associations and housing/utilities matters;
- interaction with local and state authorities.
Consultations are provided in Estonian, Russian and English.
How do the sessions work?
Consultations are provided on a walk-in basis only. This means no prior registration is required — simply come at the indicated time and take your place in the queue.
The length of the consultation depends on the complexity of the issue, but lawyers generally aim to keep it within 20–30 minutes so that everyone can be assisted.
